For high school students, prom is usually one of the most exciting times of the year. The idea of dressing up, going out for a fancy dinner and spending the evening dancing and hanging out with friends is appealing to everyone. However, a tragedy in Houston interrupted the festivities for two local students this year.
Students Sidney Pritchett and Rodrick Trimont had their apartment destroyed by a fire the day before prom. Rodrick lives with Sidney and his family, and they have been close friends for much of their lives. Luckily, the boys along with their family were able to escape the fire unharmed.
Before the fire started, Sidney heard banging on the door and an argument taking place outside. Suddenly, a Molotov cocktail was thrown through an apartment window and the whole building was on fire. Everything inside the Pritchett family’s apartment was destroyed. The only thing Sidney and Rodrick have left were the clothes they had on at the time.
Despite losing everything just a day before prom, the boys were determined not to let the tragedy ruin the event. They lost all of their clothes, but they still managed to get fitted for tuxedos the next day. Currently, the Pritchett family is staying with relatives until they can find a more permanent home.
This just one example of arson ruining lives. Although Sidney and Rodrick were able to remain optimistic and still enjoy their prom, no one should have to live through this type of tragedy. If you have been the victim of arson, contact the team at John Michael Agosti and Associates today! Whatever your “prom” may be, don’t let arson ruin it!
